MINDFUL YOGA & EMBODIED BALANCE

Mindful Yoga and Embodied Balance combines the principles of mindfulness with traditional yoga practice to cultivate a deep sense of awareness and equilibrium.. Although in the West yoga is mostly known as a stress management technique and a physical health practice, Yoga is a comprehensive healing method, a discipline: «when the agitation of the mind ceases (thoughts, emotions, and fluctuating sensations), the true state of ‘YOGA’ arises» (sutra 4.2).

In the practice of yoga, the body and breath serve as tools to access deeper states of consciousness and self-awareness. The physical aspect of the practice helps us purify the body, move energy, and avoid stagnation (of body and mind). Furthermore, the sequence of movements and conscious breathing helps us focus our attention on this union, allowing us to carry these benefits into other areas of our lives. By observing this process consciously, we activate the nervous system, proprioception, and concentration, finding calmness in the flow. At the same time, we work to release competitive attitudes and not generate the expectations that the ego demands. In this way, we cultivate acceptance, face the fear of the unknown, and free ourselves from the conditioning imposed by the mind.

Functional Anatomy Yoga

Functional Anatomy Yoga is a specialized approach to yoga that combines the principles of functional movement with a deep understanding of human anatomy. In this practice, emphasis is placed on how the body moves in everyday life and how yoga poses can be adapted to improve functional movement patterns and refine your yoga practice with  specialized sessions

This version of yoga places a strong emphasis on understanding the body’s anatomical structures, biomechanics, and functional movement patterns. It integrates this knowledge into the practice of yoga postures and sequences to promote optimal alignment, stability, and mobility while reducing the risk of injury  in a way that directly translates to improved movement in daily life.

Hatha and Vinyasa

We could say that Hatha Yoga is considered the «mother» practice of asana yoga and is part of Raja Yoga (the yoga of kings). Traditional Hatha blends postures (asanas) that increase both strength and flexibility, breathing exercises (pranayamas), energy locks (bandhas), and hand positions (mudras). However, the term Hatha yoga is often used for a more static practice of this discipline, focused on holding the pose for several breath cycles. The emphasis is on BALANCE, ATTENTION, and PAUSE. For those new to yoga, Hatha Yoga is highly recommended.

Vinyasa yoga, on the other hand, offers dynamic sequences that synchronize breath with movement, promoting energy flow and vitality. Its meaning is «union of breath and movement.» Each movement is accompanied by inhalation, exhalation, or retention, in order to create a specific pattern or flow of movements.

Both styles provide opportunities for strength-building, flexibility, stress reduction, and self-awareness.

Therapeutic Yoga

Therapeutic yoga emphasizes the innate healing capacity of the body, making it suitable for addressing various physical and mental health issues. Therapeutic Yoga addresses our ailments, mainly through the development of awake awareness, and is based on the premise that the body has numerous resources and is endowed with a wide capacity for self-regulation and self-balance.

It focuses on individual needs and utilizes techniques such as body awareness, alignment, and breathwork to promote balance and well-being. This approach is particularly beneficial for the elderly, children, individuals with disabilities, and those dealing with mental health challenges.

Trauma-sensitive yoga

Trauma-sensitive yoga provides a safe and supportive environment for individuals who have experienced trauma. Because yoga is non-verbal, it can help those who experience the shutdown of their speech and/or memory centers to use the body as a means of self-expression. The simple act of moving the body can create a great sense of achievement for people whose bodies have been frozen or numbed by their experiences.

By incorporating gentle movements, breathwork, and mindfulness techniques, it helps restore a sense of safety and connection to the body. This approach is effective in reducing hyperactivation and promoting relaxation, making it suitable for trauma survivors seeking healing and empowerment.
